WTMJ-AM (620) radio news anchor Jodi Becker will be leaving the station May 29th, it was announced Wednesday.
Becker was essentially co-host of WTMJ’s “Wisconsin Morning News” program with Gene Mueller. She joined the station in 2009.
Becker, a Menomonee Falls native who grew up in Germantown, is leaving “to spend more time with her family and do some other things she’s wanted to do,” said Tom Langmyer vice president and general manager of Milwaukee radio operations for E. W. Scripps Company, in a memo to the staff.
Langmyer is also vice president of news/talk/sports programing.
Becker is the married and mother to a three-year old son and ten month old daughter. She began her career at WAXY/WAXX in Eau Claire, worked at WISN-AM (1130) and KFI-AM in Los Angeles.
In the memo Langmeyer wrote: “When the structure of the (morning) program changed to have more of Gene and Jodi, the news content was broadened and a more conversational approach was added – Jodi excelled even further. Jodi and the “Wisconsin’s Morning News Team” are a big reason for the incredible growth in WTMJ’s overall ratings in the past year or so.”
