Seven trailers: Summer isn’t over until we run out of movies

Summer isn’t over until Hollywood says it is.

The so called summer movie season actually starts in April, and by mid-July starts running out steam.

In this weekend’s boy-girl duel between Amy Schumer’s R-rated comedy “Trainwreck,” and Paul Rudd’s pint sized superhero “Ant-Man,” the victory goes to the Marvel super-hero. Although “Ant-Man” had the second lowest opening day box office of any Marvel film, after “The Incredible Hulk.”

It should end up with about $60 million this weekend, with “Trainwreck” at about $30 million. The latter is the latest in the summer of female-centric films, following “Inside Out,” “Pitch Perfect 2″ and “Spy.”

For the most part the handful of summer films that remain are a modest group. They include:

“Southpaw” (Friday) Antoine Fuqoua film about a boxer’s troubled life, with Jake Gyllenhaal;

“Pixels” (Friday) with Adam Sandler et al battling aliens in the form of video game characters;

“Vacation” (July 29) Remake of the “National Lampoon Vacation” films, with Ed Helms:

“Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” (July 31), latest Tom Cruise action film.

“Fantastic Four” (Aug. 7) Reboot of Marvel franchise, with Miles Teller.

“Ricki and the Flash” (Aug. 7) Jonathan Demme film with Meryl Streep as an aging rocker.

“The Man From UNCLE” (Aug. 14) reboot of the TV spy spoof by Guy Ritchie, with Henry Cavill.
