WMYX looking to replace Kidd O’Shea replacement

Is Kidd O’Shea irreplaceable?

Today, one day short of one month after WYMX-FM named afternoon jock Mike Mason to replace market veteran O’Shea as co-host of the morning show with Elizabeth Kay, the station and its owners Entercom are advertising for a morning show co-host for her.

Screen Shot 2015-09-16 at 10.04.30 AMThe ads appeared on Entercom’s own employment board and on the radio industry site All Access.

There is no information on when they were first posted.

Both ads said the station was “now looking for Milwaukee’s next morning air talent to co-host our morning show with our veteran talent of 7 years Elizabeth Kay.

Candidates should be fun, outgoing, social media savvy, and know how to be brilliant at the basics in a PPM environment.”

A schedule on the station’s website shows Mason Mason back on his afternoon shift. Beneath a photo of Kay it says “The Morning Mix” but does not mention her by name.

O’Shea announced in July that he would be leaving WMYX to become morning show social media anchor at WJLA-TV IN Washington, D.C. He was also a lifestyle reporter at WISN-TV (Channel 12).

He attended Homestead High School and Cardinal Stritch College. He joined WMYX in 2004 after working at WKTI-FM for eight years and became WMYX morning show host in 2006. He was joined by Kay in 2009.

In a press release announcing Mason’s promotion WMYX program director JoJo Martinez said Mason “did an amazing job on the air and on social media to engage listeners in a very short time in afternoon drive. I expect nothing but the best from Mike & Elizabeth!”

Martinez did not respond to an email for comment.
