Milwaukee Media Notes: WISN-TV Adds Two Anchors

WISN-TV (Channel 12) has added two new anchors for its morning and weekend evening newscasts, the station announced Tuesday.

 

bw–Ben Wagner will join morning newscast anchor Melinda Davenport in January. He comes to the station from KHBS/KHOG, Hearst sister stations in Arkansas.

Wagner, a Minnesota native, previously worked as a reporter at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri.  He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.

According to his KHBS biography Wagner was previously a reporter at the Reuters TV bureau in Brussels, Belgium and worked in Europe “during the historic uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya. He covered the European Union and NATO’s response to rebel group uprisings throughout Northern Africa and parts of the Middle East”

–Sheldon Dutes, will become weekend evening co-anchor, joining Toni Valliere.

He comes to the station from WNBC in New York. Dudes is a graduate of Notre Dame University, where he was senior class president,  and previously worked at WBAL-TV, Hearst sister station in Baltimore, and WCSC-TV in Charleston.

Dutes starts later this month. According to his WNBC biography before turning to TV journalism Dutes “participated in a poverty immersion service project by living and working at … a homeless shelter in Kansas City, Kan. “In his free time he enjoys reading, cooking and running. Dutes has run a handful of half-marathons and completed the Rock-N-Roll Marathon in Washington, D.C.”

“After a nationwide search I know that these two experienced journalists will make immediate contributions to 12 News,”  Chris Gegg, WISN news director, said in a statement. “They will be a wonderful addition to the top-notch reporters and experienced anchors who local viewers have come to know and trust.”
