Set Your DVR! It’s Finally Time For WTMJ’s “The Now”

My DVR is telling me it’s finally time for “The Now.”

IMG_3844It wouldn’t be the first time a robot lied to me.

But the evidence suggests that “The Now,” a syndicated news-lite-infotainment format with contributions from E.W. Scripps stations, finally premieres on WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

It will replace the “Wisconsin Tonight” news package weeknights. The show is also listed on WTMJ’s website schedule, so I guess its official.

It was originally scheduled to debut earlier this month.

“The Now: Milwaukee” will compete with “Wheel of Fortune” on WDJT-TV (Channel 58) and “Entertainment Tonight” on WISN-TV (Channel 12).

“The Now” is hosted by Steve Chamraz and produced by Stacey Naughton.

There has been precious little publicity or on air promotion for “The Now”locally. It is said to feature a mix of local, national and international news as well as “viral stories, video, entertainment and lifestyle stories.”

“The Now” is produced by E.W. Scripps and airs on its stations like KGTV in San Diego, where former WITI-TV (Channel 6) anchor Anne State is host.

It also on Scripps stations in Cincinnati, Detroit, Cleveland, and Tampa, Denver, Kansas City, Phoenix and West Palm Beach. Several stations mention on their website that “The Now is “not a newscast.”

With this under its belt, could an announcement of a permanent 10 p.m. anchor replacement for Mike Jacobs be next?.
