At the multiplex the road to the summer movie season is paved with action movies starring Oscar nominees on their way to DVD and OnDemand. Liam Neeson is trigger happy again in “Run All Night” and Sean Penn and Javier Bardem star in the spy thriller “The Gunman.”
The art house circuit version of this post Oscar season are interesting sounding though obscure niche films that warm marquees for a week or two before moving on.

“What We Do In the Shadows” A vampire mockumentary from one of the creators of “Flight of the Conchords.” Opening Friday.
“Wild Tales” Argentine anthology film of six stories about people on the edge and linked by acts of violence. Produced by Pedro Almodovar. Opening Friday.
“Merchants of Doubt” Documentary about corporate “experts” for hire posing as scientists to debunk global warming and other political hot button issues. By the director of “Food, Inc.” Opening March 27.
