WDJT-TV (Channel 58) has promoted assistant news director Tracy Davis to news director, it was learned Wednesday.

The station had been without a news director since Genie Garner was reportedly fired in March. Garner had joined the station in 2012. Davis was named acting news director on March 23.  (See a release from the station below).

Davis joined WDJT in August of 2013, after stints as producer, news director and news manager at WFFF and WVNY in Colchester, Vermont, from 2007 to 2013.

According to her LinkedIn page she received a BA in broadcast journalism from Franklin College in Indianapolis. The photo to the left is from her LinkedIn account.

The hiring of Davis should help stabilize the news department after Garner’s departure and a shuffling of anchor assignments.

WDJT’s 10 p.m. newscast moved up to third place in the February ratings sweeps.

With her in the job, “I looked forward to even greater success as we continue to grow our news footprint,” said station vice president and general manager Mark Strachota in a statement.

5/6/15 – Milwaukee – CBS 58, WDJT, Milwaukee, announces the promotion of Tracy Davis to News Director. She started at CBS 58 in August of 2013 as Assistant News Director.

She’s been the Acting News Director since March 23.

Davis started her career at WLFI-TV in West Lafayette, Indiana as a producer and then was an executive producer at Fox 44/ABC 22 in Colchester, Vermont where she ascended to News Manager and then News Director, a position she held from 2011 to 2013.
