Some tech issues kept me from posting the local May sweeps ratings earlier today.
However they will not get in the way this afternoon, he said as the cursor flew across the screen.
Perhaps like Hillary I was hacked.
(Update: Genius Bar guy says my battery is “consumed” and I need a new track pad!)
So let’s keep this short and sweet.
– WITI-TV (Channel 6) won at 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. and WISN-TV (Channel 12) had the number one newscast at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. WITI viewers get up early and stay up late, I guess. And WISN viewers are perhaps lunch bucket types who like a little news with their evening meal. And never the twain shall meet.
– WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) was the only station to increase its ratings in the morning and was second at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Of course at 10 p.m. it was offering viewers a chance to win $4,000 in a Facebook contest.
– WDJT-TV (Channel 58) was the only one to increase its 5 p.m. rating.
– Worrisome. WISN lost about 10,586 viewers at 6 a.m. and 7,939 at 5 p.m but won the latter time slot. And WITI lost a full rating point, about 8,822 viewers, at 6 p.m.
– And there was tumult in the market as WITI’s meteorologist Vince Condella rode his Harley off into the sunset and WTMJ FINALLY added George Mallet as anchor to replace Mike Jacobs at 5 and 10 p.m.
Wait! Theres more.
The local news ratings cited here are from A.C. Nielsen and reflect broadcasts Monday through Friday. The ratings are followed by increase or decrease compared to the February 2016 sweeps ratings and what that represents in viewers. A local rating point is the equivalent of 8,822 television households.
